A definition of life

Sitting beside a burbling brook…
Perhaps, resonating the confusion within
I wondered
What is life?
And all of a sudden
The definition unfolded, manifested in nature

For what is life … but a
Woodpecker…..
Constantly pecking its home
Just to see the hopes dashed
By a stoke of an axe

For what is life … but a
Goldfish…..
Relentlessly swimming through waters
Just to see deprived of life
By a dash of a kingfisher

That is life
Uncertain, Illusion, mirage
And yet we live it throughout
Pondering … Pondering…Pondering
